Put Your Feet Up was a lockdown project turned success story. PYFU approached us with a product and vision of what their product could be. It was a great collaborative process bringing their packaging to life. The client wanted a cohesive eco friendly look to work on a number of fragrances, sizes and products, across everything from candles, reed diffusers, packaging and mailer boxes.
The look was built around the Kraft paper packaging, opting for a simple design approach that would work well on smaller candles as well as the larger ones available in the range. Adding the lines to the bottom of the packaging was a way for us to hint at the aroma given off by the candles as well as tying all sizes and shapes of packaging into one uniform look and feel.
As well as the over all look of the packaging, we had to make it work for across 13 fragrances with personalised safety and data labels custom for each scent (depending on ingredients used), which needed to be small enough to fit the packaging, but large enough to read clearly, while not taking away from the branding.We developed a great working relationship off the back of this project, and what was initially a brand design spread into a number of projects; everything from ads, order sheets, web banners all of which stemmed from the original look and feel set out in the packaging.
All photography was supplied by the customer with all credit going to the original photographers in capturing our packaging designs in such a great way.
Our Approach
We started with a keyline and some concept ideas and refined this into a final piece which was then applied to all sizes needed. In total we had 3 packs for each of the 13 scents with a reed diffuser pack for most also. The branding worked really well to allow us to keep a cohesive look across a wide range of packs and sizes. A minimal, clean and timeless approach enabled us to say so much about the company and its ethics in one glance. Having the right visual approach to the packaging and labelling was key to help entice sales for an online candle company as the consumer was buying into the look before buying into the product.
What we delivered
A cohesive packaging look across a wide range of sizes, with safety and data labelling as well as branded mailer box packaging. We also delivered a custom cardboard display as retail began to open up and PYFU were able to offer their candles to wholesalers. The display was built to ship flat with an easy assembly for the retailer to place at point of sale to allow best visual display of the product in high impact purchase areas.
